I really love this recipe! I have even made it twice already. First time I only used green bell peppers, onions and mushrooms for the topping. The second time I used green, red, yellow and orange peppers, onions and mushrooms. I liked it more the second time.

Recipe is really simple. I bought thin round steak to use. Rubbed each steak with some pepper and salt on both sides. Then I cut it width wise into half inch strips. I used my electric skillet and put a little canola oil in the skillet. Put some minced garlic (we like garlic so we put about a tablespoon and a half in), then throw the steak in until it’s fully cooked.

Next are the veggies. I had a few people over so I used 2 med onions, sliced mushrooms, 2 green bell peppers, 1 red bell pepper, 1 yellow bell pepper and an orange bell pepper. I cut the ends off and then take all the seeds out and then it’s time for the thin slices. I used my handy dandy mandolin slicer on the number 2 setting:

(Side note: Please be very careful!!! I have cut the tips of 2 fingers and it is extremely painful, and a waste of whatever you’re slicing, since I’m sure your family and guests don’t want dinner with a touch of human blood ;) lol)

In a skillet over medium heat, use about 2 tablespoons of olive oil and heat it up. Throw in the veggies, season with salt and pepper, and cook until nice and tender.

While that’s cooking, turn your broiler on low. Brush the hamburger bun’s inside with some melted butter (doesn’t need much). Put the buttered buns in the oven until they are golden brown.

When all the meat and veggies are cooked, then it’s assembling time! I take all the top bun’s off of the baking pan and then put all the bottom buns on it. Put some meat on each bottom half. Top with some shredded mozzarella and a thin slice of provolone cheese.  Put the baking pan back in the oven under the broiler and wait for the cheese to melt.  When the cheese is melted, pull the pan out, top each sandwich with veggies and then the top bun. It’s super yummy!!!

Hope y’all enjoy! I know my entire family loved these sandwiches including the dogs ;) (without the veggies of course since onions are not good for dogs.)

Thanks for stopping by!
